I am Giannis Melidis. Software engineer, cloud architect, entrepreneur, and trader. Also a husband and a dad to a little girl, which outranks everything else on that list.
I have been building software for most of my adult life. These days my work sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, AI, and security. I design systems on AWS, I care about how things fail more than how they demo, and I prefer solutions that are simple enough to debug at 2 a.m. I also trade, and I use the same tech to build automated trading processes. Marrying the two is where it gets interesting.
Why this blog
Three reasons.
- To share what I learn. Engineering, AI, security, cloud, trading. Practical stuff, not theory.
- To think in public. Writing forces clarity. If I cannot explain a decision in a few paragraphs, I probably do not understand it yet.
- To have a place of my own. No algorithm, no feed, no engagement metrics. Just posts.
Expect short, direct articles. Strong opinions where I have earned them, honest uncertainty where I have not.
Why it looks like this
I used to play Counter-Strike semi-professionally. Back then, before HLTV and before esports was an industry, the scene lived on sites like GeekBoys.org. It was started around 2000 by Andreas “bds” Thorstensson, who later folded his team into SK Gaming. GeekBoys was match coverage, configs, netcode articles, and community. It was where you went to feel part of something.
That era shaped me. Plain pages, monospace fonts, content first, zero fluff. This site is a small tribute to it. Terminal aesthetics, almost no JavaScript, loads fast on anything.
That is the whole pitch. If any of this sounds useful, subscribe to the RSS feed and read along.
